Whether you're vegan, veggie or just trying to reduce your meat intake, you need to head over to Vegan Life Live! Held in the stunning Alexandra Palace, this is the place to sample 'taste it to believe it' vegan options: everything from camembert and kebabs to ice creams and chocolate. Whilst 'fake meats' do certainly come into their own here, so do the veggies; so whether you love a little vegan junk food or are more of a 'clean' eating kind of girl, we're sure your bellies will come out thanking you.
Here's a round up of our favourite vegan eats from this year's event:
SPICE BOX @ KERB CAMDEN MARKET
We headed here for breakfast as who doesn't love curry for breakfast? Giant, fluffy naans topped with jackfruit tikka masala, raita and flaked almonds. Seriously messy to eat but seriously worth it!
I AM NUT OK @ BROADWAY VEGAN MARKET
These flavoured cashew cheeses are so incredibly tasty. We had them with crackers and sourdough toast but you could use them to make a yummy mac and 'cheese' or maybe on a jacket potato. Even better, the company is zero waste so everything comes in glass jars. Plus, if you return six empty jars, you get one free!
We've tried many a vegan cupcake but these are undoubtedly the best. Fluffy, moist sponge with a delicious smooth buttercream. Plus they make large cakes to order including an epic rainbow cake; and their oreo brownie was insane! Whatever the celebration: birthday, anniversary, surviving Monday, they all need a cake from Vida.
MERKAMO @ OLD SPITALFELDS MARKET
These guys take vegetables to another level! An Ethiopian market stall, this was by far our favourite meal of the day. The traditional Injera mix plate had everything from lentils and chickpeas to okra and sorghum seeds (rich in protein, calcium and antioxidants). Full of exotic flavours, we literally had to say 'Mmmmm' after every spoonful. Eating your rainbow in the most delicious, healthy way possible.
